It is quite easy to create a bot. You need to follow the steps mentioned below in order to create a bot.

  1. First of all, you have to log in on the Discord Website.
  2. Navigate to “Developers” drop-down menu and click on the Developer Portal link.
  3. On the header, you have to click on the Applications link.
  4. After that, you to have click “Create an application” button.

You can enter a name, description, and avatar for your application here. Once you are done with entering all the information and saved it, you can move on by selecting the “Bot” tab in the left pane.

To add a bot you have to click on the “Add Bot” button on the right and confirm the pop-up window by clicking on “Yes do it!”. It is all the work you have to do for creating a bot. But it is not the end of it.

Your Token

First of all, you need to know about what a Token is. A Token is basically your bot’s password this token is used by your bot to log in to Discord. It is a very important thing that you do not ever share this token with anybody, purposely or accidentally. If someone got the hold of your token, they can use it to perform illegal activities.

After you are done with creating a bot, you are going to see a screen like this:

In this screen, you can give a cool avatar to your bot, set its username, and make it public or private. The Token can be accessed in this panel, either by showing it or simply pressing the “Copy” button.

When Discord asks you to paste your token somewhere, this is the value that you need to put in.

How do I set up an announcements channel?

We are going to show how to set up an announcements channel. It is quite easy and simple. Make sure that you follow the steps properly!

  1. First of all, you have to create a new role by clicking on the “Roles” tab in the Server Settings menu, then clicking on the “+”, and naming the role as “Announcements”.

  2. You have to give the “Announcements” role to the right members by clicking on the “Members” tab in your Server Settings menu, then click the “+” next to the right members, and selecting “Announcements” from the drop-down menu.

  3. Then you have to create your “Announcements” text or channel by clicking the “+” in your channels list.

  4. You have to name your channel as “Announcements” and then click on the “Create” button.

  5. After that, you have to limit the ability to make announcements in this channel to only members with the “Announcements” role you need to set the channel permissions. To access the channel settings click on the cog icon next to the channel name.

  6. In the Channel Settings menu, you have to click on the “Permissions” tab.

  7. Then, you have to click on everyone role and deny the “Send Messages” permissions.

  8. You have to click on the “+” and select the “Announcements” role.

  9. You have to select “Announcements” role to change the channel permissions for this role. Select the green checkmark to enable sending messages for this role.

Only the members who have announcements role will have the ability to send messages.

iOS:

  1. Launch Discord app on your iOS device.
  2. Press on the Gear/Cog icon to access User Settings.
  3. Tap on Account to access Account Settings.
  4. Click on Enable Two-Factor Auth.
  5. You will be asked to download an Authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Authy.
  6. After installing either of the Authenticator apps on your iOS device, you will be asked to connect your Discord account to the authentication app.
  7. Once connected, 2FA will be enabled for your account.
  8. Don’t forget to add your Phone Number as a backup method and download the backup codes!

Android:

  1. Launch Discord app on your Android device.
